The Vintage Camper Millie
Meet Millie. A Beautiful 1963 Shasta.
She has lived life as a camper, a fish house; and once in our hands we glammed her back into her once formerly known camper state. Oh boy, I am sure this gal could tell stories.....to think of the memories she has created in one's lives.
When we first spotted her on Facebook Sell and Swap page it was love at first sight. Her silver wings, and cute little frame just had to be ours. We saw her potential, begged the Dad to help us with her frame/axel and asked if this was a job we could take on! With his approval she was soon in our driveway, and the restoration process began.
With her axel being transformed into a fish house it took my Dad some time to rework her axel to her original state. With this process he also added a new hitch, tires and rims, and made her ready for the open roads. It was now our turn to make her pretty.
From her transfer from ice house back to camper it took longer than we had expected because as one knows once you start a project something else always comes up and so on and so on.....this may or may not have happened a few hundred times! So as we write this we want to make sure our Dad knows how much of a rock star he is to us, to take time out of his busy life to help his crazy daughters {including Amanda- who' s our Sister from another Mister} make their crazy glamper dreams a success. From welding to painting and everything in between a big thanks to you for helping us transform this lovely into what she is now. With that being said our goals of getting her done by the summertime was now just a dream and our goals of getting her done before the snow hits was in full affect. No joke we had 4 days before the temp plummeted into no longer spray painting weather. I am pretty sure we bought the town out of white spray paint and got busy. Sanding her exterior and giving her a full painting makeover just in time. About 243 spray cans later her exterior was painted and she was looking oh so lovely. One of our favorite parts about her was her wings; we knew we wanted them to stand out- so what would one do but to paint them GOLD! Golden wings- YES please!
Once her exterior was painted we were able to move to her insides- cleaning her up, ripping out the carpet, and sealing up the ice holes! We knew that with her already small frame we wanted to freshen Millie up with a white interior; creating a more open clean crisp appearance.
Once painted we moved onto her appliances. Giving the stove and fridge a fresh coat of spray epoxy paint. We also wanted to get the burners powder coated as this is an easy and inexpensive way to snazzy up an oven. We were so happy with the end result!
A big thanks to our friends at Wayfair for their amazing Home selections! We fell in love with their flooring as we choose a grey toned laminate floor and also this amazing hexagonal patterned white tile. We knew these were a must and that they would be a perfect match for our Camper!
Instead of replacing our countertop which was in good shape we decided to add the adhesive faux marble paper to the top of it creating a glamorous look for pennies.
As we stared into Millie's empty inside corridors and her thought of her future uses we knew a cozy bench was a must, a place where one can grab a book, take a cat nap, or just simply hang out was needed. So that was our next step. Moving to the final touches of what was coming together to form The White House Co.'s traveling photo booth or even the backdrop to a fun party!
Our Photo Shoot with Elisabeth Eden Photography could not have been more fun- being able to share her new look with you all! Also lets stop and talk about the amazing Door Swag done by our girls from Love Always Floral.
A camper is just not complete without it's outside décor. We just had to have this adorable hanging chair from Wayfair that allows you to cuddle up and swing admiring sweet little Millie and the outside fresh air.
So Tickled to finally be able to share Millie with you all, and can't wait to see where she will be popping up! Now hurry up Spring, we have some glamping to do!
